Laurelmead is pleased to welcome the newest additions to our Kitchen & Dining team: Paul Marcello, our new Executive Chef, has a degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University and shares a long history with Laurelmead. Paul was the Kitchen Manager here when Laurelmead first opened. After many years of service, he moved on to an opportunity elsewhere. Fast forward twelve years and Paul returns to us with extensive experience as an Executive Chef with top organizations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Paul has also owned and operated two restaurants, one being the Corner Bistro which has been in business since 1986 and is still a favorite dining destination in Scituate, Rhode Island. “My passion has always been cooking. Every day I cook with love and I use the freshest ingredients possible,” says Paul. “I’m so excited to be back at Laurelmead. It feels like coming home.”
Sorran Ford and Paul Marcello
Sorran Ford, our new Kitchen Manager, was promoted from within due to his talent as a chef, management skills, exceptional work ethic, and genuine love for the Laurelmead community. Sorran came to us with considerable experience working with top-rated restaurants across the country including Florida and Rhode Island. Sorran says, “I know what I gain by working here, not only for me, but also my family. Within the first year I was here, my daughter had a scholarship from the Laurelmead Employee Education Fund. I was so thankful. No one loves these residents, the staff, this company and, of course, the food more than I do!”
Laurelmead is known for its excellent dining. With Paul and Sorran at the helm, that legacy is in very good hands. I invite you to experience the Laurelmead lifestyle for yourself. Call (401) 273-9550 to schedule a personal tour.
AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
Living a grateful life is a main characteristic of the people that make Laurelmead their home or their place of work. For the holidays our residents and staff shared thoughts on what they were most thankful for this season. Here’s a sample:
Nicky N. (resident): I am thankful for the sun rising up just over the bank of the Seekonk River and filling my rooms with its light…every day…reminding me that I get to rise up too. It inspires me to bring sunshine and warmth to those whose paths cross with mine throughout the day.
Maxine R. (resident): I am filled with gratitude for moving during the early months of the pandemic to Laurelmead and for the warm welcome and help from our extraordinary staff. Now that Laurelmead has been open, I am filled with gratitude for the warm welcome from the residents. After all these months I am still so thankful for your kindness and for the many special friends I have made during this time. Happy Holidays to everyone!
Claire H. (receptionist): I am thankful for being surrounded in goodness. In the uncertainty of the past 2 years it was comforting to be able to focus on the things in life that matter. To be able to come to work knowing that the things we couldn’t control were overpowered by positive emotions. Laurelmead has friendship, laughter, compassion, and all-around caring for each other, and that’s what means the most.
Nancy N. (resident): I am thankful for living at Laurelmead where I can be as private or as social as my personality allows. I appreciate all the things that the staff takes care of so we don’t have to. I am grateful for the way the staff are willing to help wherever they can. I really appreciate how staff have cared for us during the pandemic, keeping us safe and things as normal as possible.
